lots of talk about games being fixed right now, isn't that right david stern?

anyone remember the gold cup semi finals between canada/usa? no way tournament organizers could have any team other than the USA in the finals. Canada/mexico final or USA/Mexico final IN America.

the goal was on side, it deflected of an American's head. it was an easy call

tennis, nba, nhl, seri A, mlb have all had gambling scandals. we're takin over the sporting world

Canada always gets hosed in CONCACAF play. It's such a piss off. The Americans get into the World Cup every year, are ranked in the top 20, and finish last in their group. I'm thankful that we don't have to play the Americans in the next round of qualifying, not cause they are talented (cause they aren't), but cause you know we'd get the usual screw job.

I remember exactly what you're talking about. Just one of many cases.

Go Canada... and go De Guzman!

nah i don't that's the case. i have no problem with the US other than I don't like Bush. I live close to the border and go see Buffalo Sabres games all the time. i've travelled to Florida several times as well.

i'm just sayin, that tournament was definitely fraudulent

i'd say canada has a decent shot at making the next world cup. the usa and mexico will go for sure, but there are 2 other slots (1 has to play a team from south america though which is unlucky). i think there's a few teams which could compete for a slot into south africa

I'm rooting for Canada to make the WC because they'd give a hell of a lot better showing than TNT did. Of course their failure to make WC2006 had nothing to do with the gold cup

If you really think Canada has more soccer talent than the US I'd recommend sticking with betting CFL

If you really think America is that much better than Canada you better put down the crack pipe or find a way to steal another player from Ghana.

I don't think that game was fixed. I'm from Canada and it was poor officiated, but not fixed. Typically bigger name teams get more calls because they have the respect of the ref. Brazil will get all the calls too. That's just the way games are played. It's the same in other sports. Kobe Bryant gets touched and it's a foul. If it was Eddie House or Jose Calderon it would be a no call.

As for the US/Canada rivalry that seems to be taking over this thread I'd say US does have a better team than Canada, and I doubt we qualify for the WC in South Africa. Soccer is getting better here though and with Toronto FC it will only get more popular and better funded. Pretty much every team in our region though (USA/Mexico/T&T/Canada) are below average teams that won't win a WC anytime soon. The World Cup is pretty much Europe + Brazil and Argentina. It would be nice for Canada to at least qualify though.

I agree... we both suck when you look at the rest of the world. But you gotta support the team! The next step towards growing the game in this country is qualifying and getting stomped at the World Cup.

Exactly. I'd be happy to get killed 3-0 every game at the WC because that would mean at least we qualified. I think the sport is growing, which is nice to see, but we need much better funding if we really want to be taken seriously as a nation when it comes to soccer.

You're talking shit about stealing players. Guess what buddy, de Guzman is not what I would call 100% Canadian, he is of Jamaican and Phillipino descent, no Canadian background in his family. Pathethic that you bash on Freddy Adu, yet your best player and who you are the most proud of doesn't have any Canadian blood in him. And yes him and his brother are pretty good players, too bad for Canada his brother preferred to play for the Netherlands. Get your facts straight before you bash on someone.

And yes, history says the USA is that much better than Canada.
